Race Information
Come out and explore the beautiful trails of the Brown Family Environmental Center at Kenyon College during The Mudman Triple. It’s three unique trail races over the course of two days. You can enter one race, two races, or all three to earn the coveted Mudman Triple. The races:
Race 1: Evening Trail Time Trial; 7:00pm Saturday 10/27
This 5k time trial will begin at the BFEC Visitor Center on Laymon Rd in Gambier. Runners will start every 30 seconds. The course boasts one of the nastiest climbs around on the Fern Trail! NOTE: Headlamp or flashlight required. You will not be allowed to run without a light source. Glowsticks will be provided so you look cool.
Race 2, The Steeplechase, 9:30am, Sunday 10/28
For the adventurous at heart, this 5k steeplechase course will have you traversing streams, water pits, jumping logs, rocks, and maybe those who have wiped out in front of you. The course features “The Gauntlet”, 75 meters of mudpits, logs, dirt piles, and water. Race begins at the Miller Observatory off State Route 229 just west of Gambier.
Race 3, Cross Country Challenge, 11:30am, Sunday 10/28
Because it would have been too easy to have just 2 races, we added a third. And made it longer, just for fun. The 10k cross country challenge will start at the Miller Observatory off State Route 229 and have you trampling around on grassy sections as well as dirt trails, with a grueling uphill finish so you know you earned it.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
Dirt. And hills. Lots of hills. And a glowstick. Oh yeah, post-race snacks, too.
If that’s not enough for you, we’ll have awards for overall and age group winners of each race, t-shirts for all, loads of food and a special something for all y’all that complete the Triple.
