MiT Press ReleaseMarathon hopefuls can join group for the May - October MiT programPremier Sports has teamed up with
Fleet Feet Sports (Polaris Parkway) to help first-time and veteran marathoners
train to run/walk the 26.2 mile race of their choice next Fall -- with the Marathoner-in-Training
Program!
Beginning in May and continuing for 20+ weeks, the unique program is designed to help participants become better long-distance runners and walkers and to provide a support system that offers the conditioning and training needed to effectively and safely run a marathon. The MiT program is designed for first-timers as well as runners/walkers who have already completed a marathon. What many casual joggers and shorter distance runners don’t realize is that the goal of finishing a marathon is attainable by almost anyone who has the desire. Training a few hours a week over a twenty-five week period, virtually anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, can be prepared to finish a marathon, and we are here to help. Cost to join the MiT program is $130 on or before May 24, and $140 anytime after. Payment at the orientation sessions will be by cash or check only (no credit cards -sorry!). Registration information for the MiT program is also available by calling 614/431-9134 or by email: info@premierraces.com Early registration is acceptable, either by signing up on-line, or by printing the registration form. Links are at the top of this page. After the initial sign-up event, the group will meet weekly for informational seminars and group workouts. The seminars will feature guest speakers knowledgeable on running, health, nutrition, sports injury prevention, stretching, and other running-related topics. Participants will then be divided into various groups (determined by experience level) and begin their workout. With the large number of people we expect to take part, there will always be someone else to run/walk with. In the MiT program, we won’t merely focus on the elements of running, but also on the social and support aspects of training as a group. Finishing a marathon is a goal for many people, and is something they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. We want to make this dream come true for as many people as possible! |
