Running and Winning the Race of LifeA DVD for coaches and runners produced by Dr. Kitty Consolo, Ohio University Zanesville and NE running Club. This inspiring motivational 42 minute DVD tells the true story of Dr. Consolo’s evolution from a sedentary couch potato into a nationally ranked runner who qualified for the First Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials in 1984. Dr. Consolo stresses that winning is not just coming in first but doing one’s best. She also shares overcoming obstacles such as major surgery for an ovarian cyst and has video of her winning the 1985 Cleveland Marathon 8 weeks later. She shares sound training advice as well as models healthy nutrition and stresses the avoidance of alcohol and smoking. Dr. Consolo also shares her biggest loss, losing her mother Jeanne, her biggest fan, to cancer and finding the courage continue running.All proceeds from the DVD go to NE Running Club’s scholarship fund for high school runners who are going to college. Each year, NE Running Club raises $4000 which they give out in $500 scholarships to runners who are good students and also nice people who help their community.
