Beat Michigan! Beat Cancer! Racing to Beat Ovarian Cancer--An event to benefit OSU CCC-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute About the RaceThis is a project organized by fourth graders to raise money for ovarian cancer research. This disease took the life one student's mother last November. This student, a fourth grader at Barrington Elementary School, saw all the publicity for the Race for the Cure last April. After that, she approached her class to plan and host a 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Fun Run to raise money for ovarian cancer research. Another student lost his grandmother to the same disease, around the same time. Their two fourth grade classes have been working for several months on this event. They named it BEAT MICHIGAN! BEAT CANCER! Racing to Beat Ovarian Cancer. The students worked to find sponsors for the race so that all profits go directly to ovarian cancer research. This project is a real-life learning opportunity for these students. In addition to the race itself, the kids are making buckeye necklaces and other buckeye items to sell at the race to raise more money for the cause. If you can’t join us for the event, but would still like to donate to the cause, please make a donation. Event Information
